I draw two days ahead of when my cartoon appears in the Ottawa Citizen. That puts me at a distinct disadvantage against other cartoonists with the same concept, but whose work appears the following day. Case in point: Globe and Mail's cartoon by my friend, Brian Gable, on Robert Mugabe. It's basically the same idea, except that his cartoon appeared yesterday. When I saw it last night, I realized that I was the April Fool.
