Tough Year

cam121308_tough_yearCOL.jpgI was inspired to draw this cartoon based on seeing a local mall Santa. When I was a kid, mall Santas were fat and jolly.  Not this one. Jolly maybe, but a little thin.  2008 has been one of those years. 2009 is already appearing to be much, much worse. Even Stephen Harper is worried. Last month, CanWest, the company that writes my cheques, announced 560 layoffs. Yesterday, Sun Media Group announced 600 layoffs. The cold, icy water is creeping up the deck and I'm quite aware of my potential future. A future that might involve being a mall Santa.
