Two Stories

One of the things that I've become very aware of in my time as an editorial cartoonist is that people are, for the most part, asleep. They checked themselves out of current events a long time ago, but can tell you when Brad left Jennifer and the names of Madonna's children. The dumbing-down of North America is a success story like no other and I give my kudos to the mastermind behind it all. It's like some kind of collective amnesia, only the majority of North Americans never knew what they should have forgot. It's a bizarre dichotomy that in the age of information, we might very well have the stupidest people in the history of mankind, aimlessly wondering the checkout stands at the local grocer. If ignorance is bliss, then we are ecstatic.
