Eating Crow

cam101508_eating_crowCOL.jpgAnd so, exactly as the polls suggested, the Tories were returned as a minority government. Mind you, by the time the news blackout was lifted at 7 PM Pacific time, it appeared as though the Conservatives might actually pull off a majority. I had drawn the "eating crow" cartoon and sent it off to my paper just before the news coverage. The more the pundits speculated on possible outcomes, the more nervous I became. So I drew this second cartoon in about 30 minutes and was just about to post it to the Citizen when CBC finally announced that the Conservatives would be short of a majority. cam101508_cheshire_catCOL.jpgIt's funny how some of my quick stuff is better than the stuff I ponder all day long on. There is nothing like a little adrenalin to get the creative juices flowing. I like the expression on Harper's face in the second cartoon and it would have fit perfectly if things had gone better for the Conservatives.
